A Vanilla Gathering
About 7 years ago, I attended a rather large funeral for a locally well-known person. I looked around the church and estimated that about 300 people had gathered to pay their final respects. I additionally noted that every face was white. As we left the church, I pledged to myself that my funeral would not be attended by whites only. In fact, I would consider my life a bit of a failure if my funeral were to be a Vanilla Gathering.
